Isn't this image from the Jil Sander SS07 ad campaign wonderful? The model is Johanna Stickland, shot by Willy Vandeperre. It's so stark with the plain set and (somewhat) minimal outfit and styling, but rich in the warm light and the facets of the skirt. The dual parts of the image contrast each other perfectly, and highlight the amazing skirt. Johanna looks like some sort of modern librarian angel. I think it's an impeccable synthesis of the season's minimalism and flash, done in a classic way. This is the sort of image that sticks in your mind for a long time.
